The Penang Chinese Town Hall (PCTH) held its media appreciation night gathering at the Cititel Penang.
Some 130 print and electronic media members from the English and Chinese dailies turned up in full force.
Present to welcome guests was Penang Chinese Town Hall chairman Tan Sri Tan Khoon Hai and his committee members.
Guest of honour was the Chinese Deputy Consul General in Penang, Mdm Ding Qiao and Consul General of Royal Thai Consulate of Penang, Raschada Jiwalai among others.
In his opening remarks, Tan expressed his pleasure in meeting up with all of the various media representatives in Penang.
“We truly appreciate your contribution and reports on PCTH and its activities. On behalf of PCTH, I extend the highest gratitude to all the media members present today.
“I optimistically believe that traditional media has, and will continue to play a role in the society. We also pledge to stand along with traditional media, facing challenges together, countering destructive forces with credibility, resisting fabrication with facts to preserve the essence of Chinese culture,” he said.
The speech was followed by a fine buffet dinner.
The evening also saw a rendition of karaoke with vibrant participation by the media members. The all important lucky draw also offered some attractive gifts and vouchers.
Media members also had the opportunity to pose for the camera along with the committee members of the PCTH.
