In an effort to unlock the full potential of mainland Penang, a special brochure has been launched by the Penang Convention & Exhibition Bureau (PCEB).

The brochure will also help further promote business events and tourism destinations on mainland Penang too.

Some 200 guests and industry players gathered at the new Butterworth Arena to witness the launching ceremony.

On hand was State Exco for Tourism and Creative Economy YB Yeoh Soon Hin, PCEB Chief Executive Officer Ashwin Gunasekeran, Chief Minister Incorporated general manager Datin S Barathi, Northern Region director for Tourism Malaysia Shahrul Aman, Penang Malaysian Tour and Travel Agents Association (MATTA) was represented by Ms Carolyn Leong,  while the Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) was represented by its vice president Dato Khoo Boo Lim, and Dato Oon Weng Boon, executive chairman of Island LandCap Properties Group.

Lending support was Ascott Group country general manager Mondi Mecja and Citadines Penang resident manager Lee Boon Kae.

In his address, Yeoh added that the brochure will help to promote the plethora of exciting activities and unique experiences on mainland Penang.This is also in line with Penang Vision 2030.

“Among them are the Penang Golf Resort, Bertam Water Park, Penang Bird Park, Laguna water Park, the iconic St Anne’s Church , Bukit Mertajam Old Town, Kampung Agong, Pantai Bersih, Tow Boo Keong Temple and more,” said Yeoh.

He also added that the business events industry has always been a vital contributor to the economic growth of the state.

There are also many packages to suit your needs to tour and discover mainland Penang at your leisure. 

It is the best of both worlds. This is where Nature and modern infrastructure co-existence.

Meanwhile, Ashwin paid tribute to the business events consortium partners for their valuable support in the joint effort to accomplish the project.

“This effort aims to contribute to the state’s comprehensive economic improvement and drive substantial growth for the business events industry which is in line with Penang Tourism Master that seeks to balance development between the island and Seberang Prai areas,” added Ashwin.

He also added that PCEB will further continue to build ties with both existing and new partners in mainland Penang to further benefit the overall tourism industry.
