The Penang Convention & Exhibition Bureau (PCEB) hosted its exclusive networking evening with travel agents from Chennai, India. 

The purpose of the gathering was to connect, exchange insights and explore potential collaborations to enhance Penang’s presence in the Indian market.

The event was held at the historical Cheah Kongsi where some 120 guests converged. 

They were from the tour and travel, hotel, tourism and other related sectors.

Present was PCEB chief executive officer Ashwin Gunasekeran and his team to ensure everyone had a great time.

Ashwin in his opening address shared that the Indian tourism market has grown by leaps and bounds over the years.

“This is aided by the direct flight connectivity by IndiGo Airlines which flies to Penang on a daily basis”, he said.

Guests were treated to an array of local favourites and live entertainment by a five-piece band.

Guests also tossed the Yee Sang to mark the Chinese New Year festivities.

Among those present were Datin S. Barathi (general manager Chief Minister Incorporated), Dato Khoo Boo Lim (board of directors of PCEB), Dato Gulab Mahatam Rai (GM Lone Pine Hotel), directors of sales and marketing from the various hotels/resorts and local travel agents.
