The Penang Convention and Exhibition Bureau (PCEB) held the “Mainland Consortium Networking Night” at the Vervea Trade and Exhibition Centre yesterday evening. 

Some 100 participants from the hospitality industry, tourism players, product owners, travel agents among other stakeholders attended the gathering.

Lending presence to the gathering was Penang State Exco for Tourism and Creative Economy YB Wong Hon Wai and his team. 

Earlier, they had a brainstorming session to plan and chart new strategies to elevate the tourism and Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) events on the mainland. 

Also present was PCEB chief executive officer, Ashwin Gunasekeran and Malaysian Association of Hotels vice president, Dato Khoo Boo Lim.

Among the topics of discussion were the ways to promote the many mainland destinations and their products to local and foreign guests and business partners. 

Wong also shared his optimism that mainland Penang has great potential to attract more activities with the cooperation of all parties involved. 

Guests were treated to a buffet dinner as they mingled and shared notes.
