Penang Convention and Exhibition Bureau (PCEB) has become a well-respected establishment by embracing the latest virtual technology to reach out to its partners and clients worldwide.
Despite the pandemic they have worked diligently to become a “well-oiled machinery” to stay in touch with the global travel and trade industry.
They are also attributed to launching the “new normal guidelines” booklet which was submitted to the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC).
Meanwhile, the fourth edition of the Penang International Travel Exchange (PITE) live streamed for the Tropical Spice Garden is one such initiative.
The travel exchange is on-going from October 25 – 26 for the Asia Pacific and Middle East regions, while from October 28– 29, it will focus on the Europe and UK regions.
Over 400 buyers and trade visitors from 30 countries, together with 41 exhibitors from Penang, Kuala Lumpur, Ipoh and Sarawak.
“The PITE 2021 Digital Show’s programme will incorporate key components such as business matching between buyers and exhibitors, as well as creating an extensive marketplace for the travel and business events industries to welcome back future international businesses into Penang and Malaysia within the next few years.
“Other parts of the programme include virtual networking sessions and some education sessions, all taking place virtually in a simulated exhibition centre. The show will have more than 100 buyers, with 40 exhibitors from Penang and throughout Malaysia.
“As we start to prepare for the possibility of international travel soon, it is important for us to proceed with our existing marketing efforts, while still revolving around the message of safety and security in travel and in organising events,” said Ashwin Gunasekeran, CEO of PCEB.
“Penang holds great promise as a preferred destination for tourism and various business events activities especially for the European market, namely ones from Corporate Companies, Travel agents, Incentive/ Motivation Houses, Meeting Planners as well as Associations,” he said.
He also added that soon, the Malaysian borders will be opened for international guests, and that Penang is ready, prepared and all set to welcome them.
Prior highlights include hosting virtual meetings from the Hin Bus Depot and the Penang Hill.
Syabas to PCEB in pioneering the latest technology to keep the trade shows going despite the pandemic.
