The Pantai Hospital Penang organized the Pantai Marathon 2024 which managed to raise RM100,000 in support of the Lions George Town Mutiara – Pantai Penang (LGTM-PP) Medical Fund.
The event which was held at Penang’s Second Bridge saw some 3,000 participants taking part in the run.
The event was flagged-off by the State Exco for Tourism and Creative Economy YB Wong Hon Wai.
The LGTM-PP Medical Fund, a collaborative effort established in 2010 between the Lions Club of George Town Mutiara and Pantai Hospital Penang, aims to provide financial assistance to underprivileged patients seeking treatment at Pantai Hospital Penang.
The funds raised from the marathon will be instrumental in continuing this mission.
“At Pantai Hospital Penang, our daily mission is to enhance people’s lives and improve healthcare. We are proud that the LGTM-PP Medical Fund has assisted over 308 needy individuals in restoring their sight through subsidized cataract procedures, alongside supporting total knee replacements (TKR) and other major medical treatments. This initiative is sustained through public donations and jointly organized fundraising activities,” stated Pan Wen Lek, chief executive officer of Pantai Hospital Penang.
“Raising over RM100,000 through this marathon is a testament to the community’s commitment to supporting healthcare initiatives. Our commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR) is demonstrated by this continuous endeavour, which also underscores our goal of empowering and supporting the communities in which we live and work. In addition, we prioritize healthcare and the betterment of our communities.
