ZLK Production Sdn. Bhd announced that the Movie “Nyonya Ronggeng” has started its principal shoot with the major location scheduled in Penang.
Showcasing the unique background of Baba Nyonya Communities and the Unity of Malaysian. A Period Movie of the year 1940’s to late 1970’s with a fictional life story of a Nyonya Ronggeng named “Rose”.
ZLK Production was founded by Dato Sri Dr. KC Lee, had a press conference in January 2020 to pre-launch the movie “Nyonya Ronggeng”. Unfortunately, as the global pandemic striked which the movie was put on hold for 2 years.
With the announcement of the endemic stage in April 2022 for the country, ZLK Production has proceeded with the movie’s Pre Production where finally the Principal shoot has scheduled this March 2023.
The commencement of Nyonya Ronggeng Production with the opening lense ceremony was graced by Penang State Exco for Tourism and Creative Economy YB Yeoh Soon Hin wiith the attendance of special guest YB Dato’ Muhammad Bakhtiar Wan Chik MP of Balik Pulau, Jonathan Freddy P. Bagang, Director of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) and Ooi Chok Yan, CEO of Penang Global Tourism.
The Movie Nyonya Ronggeng, though is a fictional life story created by Ying Li Tan herself who starred as “ROSE” and written by script writer Eenaz Moktar with the recent worldwide recognition of our very own (Raja Mukhriz) Movie Director Cinematography skill & technique the movie will showcase real significant historical events in then real time, ie. Sook Ching Massacre In Singapore, British Military Administration, Proclamation of Malaysia and visually changes trends of years and also features the unity of multiracial in Malaysia, specifically the culture and tradition of the Baba Nyonya “Peranakan”.
Part of the objective of this movie is to promote Tourism Malaysia, especially Penang with its rich Peranakan Culture and Heritage, as the tourist destination and a true hallmark of Malaysia’s rich multi-cultural & heritage diversity to the world. Nyonya Ronggeng will be a film that able to make a big impact
in Malaysia Tourism to the next extent in the form of shooting various historical scenes and the unique culture of Malaysia which will go Internationally at the intention of International Film Awards Approach.
Location of shoot are Pasir Panjang Lumut, Perak, Waterfall Junjung, Kulim, Kedah, Kuala Muda, Kedah, Chinese Cemetery Kulim, Kedah, Kg. Agung Penaga, Karuna Hills , Balik Pulau, Jalan Sungai Pinang, Balik Pulau , Georgetown Mansion, Georgetown, Lebuh Muntri & Lebuh Steward Georgetown, Botanica Mansion, Balik Pulau, Wawasan Open University, Georgetown and Muzium Peranakan Baba Nyonya, Georgetown, Penang
Having the production shoot here in Penang, ZLK Production have created a huge contribution in boosting the economy for the state at Seberang Prai, Balik Pulau and Georgetown.
In terms of business where hotel accommodation and catering services for more than 45 days for the whole 65 crews and 25 artistes, location rental fee for the shoots and most important giving opportunity as we hired more than 1000 local talents as extras to be featured in the movie.
