By V. SivajiPenang Chief Minister YAB Chow Kon Yeow officiated the opening of the 2nd edition of the Northern International Audio & Visual Show 2024 currently being held at the Amari SPICE Penang.

It is on till tomorrow Sunday April 28, 2024.

This year’s event is much bigger as it has attracted a record number of exhibitors including a mini concert featuring local talents.

Also present was Datin S Bharathi (General Manager or Chief Minister Incorporated), YB Wong Yuee Harng state assemblyman Pengkalan Kota, Penang Convention & Exhibition Bureau (PCEB) chief executive officer Ashwin Gunasekeran, Amari SPICE Penang general manager Noorazzuudin Omar, Dato Alycia Eng, event organizer Wilson Yeoh among others.

Chow in his address said that the event showcases cutting-edge technologies  in the audio and visual experiences.

“We also nurture creative industries and niche business services which will transform Penang into a global hub for technology, innovation and creative industries before 2030.

“Recently I learned that there are even Penangites who produce their very own music server as well as tube amplifiers present today. This show is also a catalyst for attracting both local and international investments”, added Chow.

He later sportingly turned deejay for a moment to “scratch” on the turntable as the launch gimmick for the showcase.  

In all, some 42 exhibitors comprising both local stalwarts and international representatives are taking part to showcase the latest gizmos in the industry. They were from Singapore, Lithuania, Canada, Denmark, Taiwan, Thailand, Australia, The United States of America among others.Among them are 

ATC Audio (UK), MSB Technology (USA), DALI (Denmark), Borrensen Acoustic (Denmark), HiFi Rose (South Korea), Silbatone Acoustics (South Korea), LUMIN (China), Marten (Sweden), Sonus faber (Italy) and Novaris (Australia) to name a few. 

Visitors had a field day to check out the latest speakers, amplifiers, pre-amplifiers, vinyl players, cassette players and other gadgets. On show was also a DALI speaker set with amplifiers and accessories costing more than RM1,2 million too.

A mini concert will also be held from 7pm on a daily basis at the SPICE Rooftop Garden for the entertainment pleasure of guests.

Among the performers are the Penang Jazz Society, KipDaGruv, Saiko-Rama, Warnabumi, The Harmonious Band, Somebody Who, Megan, Roger Wang 3.3, Gareth MC Show, The Big Band and Yogi B.
