Penang Chief Minister YAB Chow Kon Yeow took time off from his busy schedule to officiate the official opening of the Northern International Audio and Visual Show 2025.

The gathering is being held at the Setia SPICE Convention Centre from April 25 to 27th, 2025.

On show are the latest gadgets and equipment in the sound and lights industry ranging from speakers, amplifiers, turntables, cables, headphones, MIDI controllers, microphones, audio interfaces among others. 

Welcoming the Chief Minister was State Exco for Tourism and Creative Economy YB Wong Hon Wai, Penang Convention & Exhibition Bureau (PCEB) chief executive officer, Ashwin Gunasekeran and Wilson Teoh, Director of Gryphon Production.

More than 125 brands from all over the world are on show at the gathering while the total worth of equipment is a whopping RM80 million with products from China, Singapore, Switzerland, Canada and more.

Chow in his address hailed the event as a testament to Penang which is well-suited to host thi kind of conference.

“We have the talent, infrastructure and the track record. Our world-class supply chain, our highly skilled workforce, and our culture of precision and excellence -all of these are the very things that allow adjacent industries like audio-visual tech to not only survive here but also thrive.

“Events like this inspire our youth, create jobs and more crucially they show that Penang is open to business,” said Chow.

Meanwhile, Wong said that the Northern International Audio & Visual Show is more than just an exhibition of cutting-edge technology and innovation. 

“It is a vibrant platform that nurtures the creative and cultural ecosystem

of Penang. By hosting this event, we are promoting a dynamic industry that merges creativity, technology, and cultural expression in ways that inspire and captivate,” he added.

Ashwin paid tribute to the show that started in a small way but now stands to achieve the status of a regional player in the audio-visul industry.
