Plans are underway to build the biggest sports centre on mainland Penang.
Being built at a cost of RM8.78 million the sports centre is called the Nibong Tebal Arena.
Among the facilities include nine badminton courts and a multi-purpose hall.
The badminton courts can also be converted to hosts other sports like netball, volleyball, silat, table tennis, karate, wushu and other indoor sports.
On hand to inspect the progress of construction was state exco for Youth and Sports, Soon Lip Chee.
“We hope to promote sports and related activities aggressively on the mainland once the sports centre is completed,” said Soon.
The complex is expected to be completed by early 2023.
