Penang Governor Tun Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak officially launched the new ferries that will be serving Penangites.

He was accompanied by Penang Chief Minister YAB Chow Kon Yeow, Transport Minister Anthony Loke, Penang Port Sdn Bhd Dato Saseedharan among other dignitaries at Pangkalan Raja Tun Uda (PRTU).

The new ferries take only 10 minutes to cross the channel between Georgetown and Butterworth.

They come with a more convenient travel, efficient, and eco-friendly mode of transportation for locals and tourists alike.

Meanwhile, the upgraded ferry terminals at Pangkalan Sultan Abdul Halim (PSAH) and Pangkalan Raja Tun Uda (PRTU) now offer a range of modern amenities, including free Wi-Fi, air-conditioned waiting areas and cashless payment options.

The air-conditioned waiting areas provide a comfortable and pleasant environment for travellers, particularly during peak hours or adverse weather conditions.

By attracting an influx of tourists to experience the modernised ferry operations, Penang’s tourism industry will flourish, ensuring a steady stream of revenue and growth.

“The launch of the new ferry operations in Penang is a significant step forward for the state’s transportation sector. It is a testament to our commitment to providing the people of Penang with safe, reliable, and efficient modes of transportation.

“The new ferries will not only provide a more convenient way for people to travel, but also help to reduce traffic congestion on the roads and promote a more sustainable future for Penang.” said Chow in his address.
