The Penang state government has launched its travel guide for Muslim tourists to the state with a booklet and video to highlight Muslim-friendly places and eateries.
The “Muslim Travel Guide” and the video entitled “Jalan-Jalan Pulau Pinang” launch was held at the Light Hotel Penang.
State Exco for Tourism and Creative Economy, YB Yeoh Soon Hin described the move as to cater for the growing international Muslim tourism segment.
“The booklet and brochure will come handed as they do not have to spend much time researching where to stay, visit and dine.
“Malaysia has become a popular destination for tourists from the Middle East countries and Penang is one of the states which is a popular spot for these visitors. The travel guide is also in Arabic version.
“Among these countries are the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait and Bahrain.
“There are several Muslim friendly hotels in Penang where one can find halal facilities and numerous attractions,” said Yeoh in his address.
Present was Penang Global Tourism chief executive officer, Ooi Chok Yan, Malaysian Association of Hotels (Penang Chapter) chairman Tony Goh, Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Penang Director, Jonathan Freddy Bagang, Joseph Goh (ATAP) , Mohd Lattif Fatteh Mohamad, president of Mutiara Tour Guide Association among other guests at the launching ceremony.
