A commendable corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme was carried out by the NAIM Group of Companies in conjunction with Ramadan and Syawal months.
A whopping sum of more than RM100,000 worth of cash and goods were presented to various underprivileged communities in Sarawak recently.
The initiative is in line with the goal of NAIM Foundation, which is to reach out to underprivileged communities such as children with disabilities, orphanages, old folks and single mothers in the areas where it has a presence in.
The contribution to the Miri Malay Charitable Trust Board (LAKMM) was handed over during LAKMM’s Aidilfitri open house witnessed by The Right Honourable, Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg and his spouse Puan Sri Datuk Amar Hajah Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Haji Bujang. Representing NAIM for the handing over of the mock cheque to LAKMM was its Regional General Manager, Alice Ting.
While on hand to present the mock cheques to the representative from Muslim Welfare Organisation Malaysia (PERKIM) and Lawas Muslim Charitable Trust Board (LAKHIL) – Lawas branch, Datu Maria Bin Hasman, were NAIM’s Executive Director, Beh Ewe Boon, Chief Operating Officer, Bryan Chen and Manager, Ahmad Dzulkarnian during a separate mock cheques handover presentation at Wisma NAIM.
These last two years have not been easy for the underprivileged communities as they have struggled to weather the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. The challenges faced by this community has been numerous, ranging from gaining access to food as well as income to help their families stay afloat.
Cognisant of this, NAIM has continuously reached out to help ease the burdens of those in need.
“What is distinctive about Malaysia is that we are an inclusive multiracial society, where we are constantly looking out for one another. We’ve made it a priority to keep our ears on the ground and from here, find avenues to help those in need, be it at community, district, state or national level. We hope this will help ease financial burdens for these underprivileged communities and will bring a modicum of cheer to them when they celebrate Hari Raya Aidilitri,” said Alice Ting.
Prior to these initiatives, NAIM had organised an “Agihan Bubur Lambuk” on 21 April with active participation from its employees in preparing, packing and delivering Ramadan cheer in a package consists of bubur lambuk, pengat pisang, dates and packed drink for some 450 underprivileged folks from orphanages, old folks home as well as a few mosques in Kuching. The Group had also donated cash to JKKK Kampung Moyan Laut Hulu, Asajaya in aid of their Ramadan charity activities within their village. Apart from that, NAIM had also handed over their annual Ramadan contributions to a few mosques and suraus within its developments in Kuching, Miri and Bintulu. The mosques and suraus are namely Masjid Darul Ilmu and Masjid Darul Falah, Kampung Binyu in Kota Samarahan; Masjid Ar’Rayyan and Surau Sinar Islam in Miri; and Masjid Al Taqwa in Bintulu.
