VIP guests at the MATTA Fair Penang launch ceremony

The Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) Fair Penang 2023 is currently underway at the Setia SPICE Arena till tomorrow.
The official launch ceremony was attended by the State Exco for Tourism and Creative Economy YB Wong Hon Wai, MATTA president Nigel Wong and Penang MATTA chairman Ms Carolyn Leong. Shahrul Aman Tourism Malaysia,
“The MATTA Fair Penang has evolved into an integral part of our tourism and creative economy calendar, serving as a platform to showcase Penang’s diverse and captivating tourism offerings.
“This event has grown significantly over the years and today, we stand at the beginning of a new era for tourism for Penang.
“One of the exciting developments is the expansion of direct flights to our island. First was the Batik Air flight to Guilin, Xiamen Airlines and Qatar Airways next month,” said Wong.
Earlier, Nigel Wong added that tourism is an important contributor to the economy of the country.
“Tourism is about the people and they come here to make their dreams come true,” he added.
Leong also added that that year’s fair has a record number of 261 booths or more than 70% increase from last year.
“We wish to thank the Malaysia Aviation Group made up of Malaysia Airlines and Firefly who are our official carriers. Some of the other sponsors for this year are China Airlines, Xiamen Airlines, Qatar Airlines, Qantas, Vietnam Air, Resort World Cruises among others.
Wong later toured the various booths accompanied by several consul-generals from China, Thailand, Indonesia, France and Poland.
