More Automated External Defibrillators (AED) will be installed in Penang for the emergency use of members of the public.

AED is a device that automatically analyzes the heart rhythm and if it detects a problem that may respond to deliver an electrical shock to restore a normal heart rhythm.

As part of kick-starting the Responsible Tourism Campaign, some 20 units of AEDs will be installed.

Among the new locations are at Anne’s Church, Balai Polis Jelutong, Balai Polis Nibong Tebal, Balai Polis Jalan Patani, Balai Polis Teluk Kumbar, BOMBA Jalan Perak, BOMBA Chew Jetty, Pinang Tunggal, Wadda Gurdwara, Taman Botani (4), Penang Hill Mid Station, Kompleks Makan & Pasar Taman Terubong Jaya, Jalan Raja Uda – Rumah Berhala Guan Yin Ting Dou Mu Gong, Pulau Aman, Pasar Air Itam, Taman Pekaka, Astaka Gurney.

Penang State Exco for Tourism and Creative Economy YB Yeoh Soon Hin said that this will be done by the first quarter of 2022.

“The upcoming phases will gradually be rolled out until all 5 districts in Penang are covered, amounting to 45 AEDs in total. This plan to include all districts is to ensure that the AEDs are accessible by the general public, allowing the rakyat to have equal access to basic life-saving amenities,” he added.

Yeoh said that this installation is Penang’s approach in enhancing public safety, which is aligned with the state’s Penang2030 vision in making Penang “A Green and Smart State that Inspires the Nation.
