Members of the Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) Penang Chapter brought early Deepavali cheer to children at the Ramakrishna Ashrama and Shan Home yesterday.
The MMA team was led by Penang MMA chairman Dr Divagar Varatha Raju accompanied by PPS MMA Chairman and Penang Branch Honorary Secretary Dato’ Dr Parmjit Singh, Vice Chairman Mr Prabhu Ramasamy, Committee Member Dr Seetha Govindasamy and Branch member Dr Tejani.
They were received at the Ramakrishna Home by its chairman K. Ramasamy.
The MMA team presented a donation of RM 2,500 and 15 hampers consisting of food items thus bringing light and happiness to the lives of approximately 50 school-going kids at the home.
The Festival of Lights will be held this coming Sunday Oct 12, 2023.
The MMA team later moved on to the Penang Shan Children’s Home which houses 42 children from the ages of two to 19-years-old at the home.
They were received by the home’s chairman Dato Dr S. Balakrishnan They were also presented with hampers and a RM2,500 donation for the home.
“The festival of lights is all about spreading love and happiness, and we are grateful for the opportunity to make a positive difference in these young lives,” said Dr Divagar.
The meaningful contributions brought smiles to the faces of the children who can now look forward to a vibrant Festival of Lights.
