Tzu Chi members at the home of Loh

Members of the Buddhist Tzu-Chi Merits Society Malaysia were back in action to help victims of the horrible floods in Selangor.

Dubbed the “Sri Muda Post Flood Clean-up” operations, a team of seven members from Penang headed out to lend a helping hand in the clearing and cleaning process of homes and other business establishments there. They were led by their Khoo Boo Leong.

The three day relief effort is expected to last from Dec 24 till tomorrow Dec 26, 2021.

Home owners are grateful to members of Tzu Chi

One of those affected was Tricia Loh, Head of Sales from Penang Convention & Exhibition Bureau (PCEB) and her family.

Her “knights in shining armor” were members of the The Buddhist Tzu-Chi Merits Society Malaysia.

“Although my sister and I were taught by our parents to be decisive, independent, strong and possible, not to trouble people. We seldom plead for things we could do within our strengths and limits.

“But these men in their 50-60s were our pillars. Before they left, they shared words of their beliefs: Life is to put things in action of our learnings. Walk the talk!

“This is a Xmas gift we shall be beholden voluntarily, sincerely and greatly for the rest of our lives. Thank you so much Tzu Chi Foundation Malaysia,” said Loh in her facebook posting.

The team had to clean up layers of mud, silt and other damaged home equipment.

In the words of Venerable Master Cheng Yen – “Start with good intentions and one will head in the right direction; Make good vows and one will have the strength to contribute.”
