The Mein Schiff 5 cruise ship was spotted leaving the Swettenham Pier Cruise Terminal (SPCT) earlier this evening (Jan 9, 2023).
A quick check shows that it is operated by German based TUI Cruises. It has a capacity of 2,700 passengers.
It is sailing from Singapore to its final destination at Laem Chabang (Bangkok, Thailand). It has stopovers in Port Klang, Penang, Langkawi, Phu My (Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam) and Koh Samui (Thailand).
Other cruise ships already visiting SPCT are the Spectrum of the Seas operated by Royal Caribbean Cruises and the Genting Dream operated by Resort World Cruises.
The growing trend shows that the cruise industry is returning in a vibrant manner and will surely benefit Penang’s tourism sector and its stakeholders.
