The MEI Hotel along Abu Siti Lane in Georgetown will become the first private low-risk quarantine and treatment centre (PKRCS) with effect October 1, 2021.
The joint corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative is a collaboration by the Penang state government, CREST Malaysia and MEI Hotel.
They offer rooms for those with category 1 and 2 cases.
MEI Hotel will provide support in terms of housekeeping, sanitization and security at their own expense in this charitable deed.
Present to view and inspect the facilities was Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow.
“We are grateful for the role of the various in making this project a success,” said Chow.
Also present was state exco for Welfare, Phee Boon Poh and MEI Hotel general manager, John Kim.
They will offer their services free for the B40 group assigned by the relevant authorities.
Doctors and medical facilities will be on standby 24-hours.
