The office of the Penang caretaker government’s committee chairman for Tourism and Creative Economy, Mr Yeoh Soon Hin hosted media practitioners to a gala dinner at the Penang Golf Club last night.
In all, some 70 media members from the various print and electronic media gave support to the gathering.
They were mostly from various Chinese, Malay and English publications.
To start off the evening of camaraderie, Yeoh started off with a rendition of songs to get the party going. He was also joined by several media members.
“This evening I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to all my media friends for your invaluable contribution in promoting Penang tourism for the past few years.
“Through various platforms, you have shared captivating stories, breathtaking visuals and engaging content that have captured the hearts and imaginations of millions.
“The Penang tourism industry is showing signs of recovery and regained momentum,” said Yeoh in his address.
After a fine buffet dinner put out by the Penang Golf Club’s food & beverage team, guests were treated to a round of lucky draw which offered hotel accommodation and flight tickets.

Thanks to sponsors from the Malaysian Association of Hotel (MAH) Penang Chapter which was represented by its chairman Tony Goh and Secretary John Kim.
Among those from the airlines was Ms LIsa Wong from Malaysia Airlines, Ms Phoenix Li from Starlux and Ken Tan from Airasia. Other sponsors were Dato Ch’ng Huck Theng, Penang Hill and Entopia.
The party continued with a round of durian buffet put out by the hosts.
