Penang Chief Minister YAB Chow Kon Yeow was on hand to launch the country’s “Tallest Automated Hotel Car Park” and “Highest Cantilevered Acrylic Bottom Swimming Pool” at the M Summit and the Granite Luxury Hotel respectively.
Both achievements have made it into the prestigious Malaysia Book of Records (MBR).
Also present was M Summit Group founder and managing director, Dato Albert Moh. Malaysia Book of Records Deputy General Manager, Aaron Bong and guests.
“We want to make Penang proud with this double recognition and the opening of our new wing – The Granite Luxury Hotel on Aug 1st.
“Standing at 71.2m tall, the automated car park can accommodate up to 204 cars within a small footprint. This is an ideal way of parking for George Town where land is scarce and parking bays are in big demand,” said Moh.
He also added that It also saves the driver time from having to hunt for roadside parking or drive up a multi-storey car park. The automated car park also prevents car break-ins, vandalism and car thefts.
“As for The Mirage swimming pool, its cantilevered acrylic bottom section is located 49.5m above ground. It provides a unique experience like you are “swimming in the sky” while challenging those with fear of heights.
“We also have another piece of good news for the hotel. We have just returned from London where we had won two Asia Pacific Property Awards for – 1) Best Leisure Development and 2) Best New Hotel Construction & Design.
“We want to thank our consultants and contractors for playing a big role in this project,” he added.
Meanwhile, Chow congratulated M Summit for receiving two MBR awards and the rebranding of the Granite Luxury Hotel.
“I am sure the Mirage swimming pool will be an added attraction and add value to the city’s visitors.
“We also welcome the automated parking lot to ease the parking woes,” said Chow adding that the state will also look into listing all of the MBR attractions in the state.
