The committee members of the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) Penang Chapter made a courtesy call on the newly appointed State Exco for Tourism and Creative Economy, YB Wong Hon Wai at his office recently.
Leading the group was MATTA Penang Chapter chairman Ms Carolyn Leong and her office bearers.
Leong is also the chief executive officer of Angel Tours Sdn Bhd here.
Among the committee members were Abdul Zulkifli vice-chairman, managing director of Lafaz Syukur Travel & Tours Sdn Bhd, committee members Hazlina Abdul Rashid, Director of Afrinabatrisyia Travel & Tour Sdn Bhd and Ms K. Thamarai, CEO/director of Speedmex Rent-A-Car SB.
Other than presenting a bouquet to Wong and congratulating him on his new appointment, they also discussed topics of interest to promote tourism.
“We as Penang MATTA will work together and give support with the Tourism office to promote the state and bring more tourists and visitors to Penang.
“We will also work to support our members so that we can bring the business levels back to pre-pandemic conditions,” added Leong.
Since, the tourism industry is the second largest contributor to the state’s economy, as such, it plays a vital role for the state.
Meanwhile, the long awaited MATTA Fair Penang will be held at the Setia SPICE Arena and concourse of Setia SPICE Convention Centre from Sept 30 to Oct 1, 2023.
