The highly anticipated Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents Fair (MATTA) Penang is back on May 24 and 25th at the Setia Spice Arena here. More than 300 booths are expected to showcase local and foreign destinations.
Present at a press conference to announce the latest updates on the fair was MATTA Penang chairman, Ms Carolyn Leong, Datuk Hamzah Rahmat, (MATTA KL), Abdul Zulkifli (Matta Penang deputy chairman) and K. Thamarai (Matta Penang Secretary).
Penang MATTA fair is the second-largest MATTA Fair after the flagship national event in KL, this edition promises to deliver an even bigger and more exciting experience for visitors.
“Penang is one of the most significant tourism events in the country, reinforcing the state’s role as a second gateway to Malaysia. With strong international connectivity and numerous foreign airlines serving the state, Penang continues to be a prime destination for both domestic and international travellers. Its strategic location further strengthens the fair’s position as a major platform for travel industry players to connect and offer exclusive deals to eager travellers”, said Hamzah.
“A total of 85,860 visitors patronised Penang MATTA Fair last year and generated RM78 million in total sales.
“Depending on the response, we can allocate another 40 more booths to bring the total to 340 booths. Another new feature is the “Domestic Zone”, where guests will have the exceptional chance to browse domestic travel packages before accessing the international zone.
“This is to promote Visit Malaysia 2026 and beyond”, added Hamzah.
Meanwhile, Leong thanked MATTA KL for their offer to work with MATTA Penang and take the fair to the next level.
“We look forward to a much better fair this time around”, she added.
Visitors can look forward to the large range of travel packages, including both domestic and foreign vacations.
Admission is free.
