Penang CM accompanied by YB Jagdeep at the ground breaking ceremony

The Penang state government is “racing” towards achieving its target of providing 220,000 affordable homes with yet another project launched in Ayer Itam.

The new project dubbed “Mandarin Residensi” is located along Jalan Teochew Satu here.

On hand to perform the ground breaking ceremony was Penang Chief Minister YAB Chow Kon Yeow along with State Exco for Housing, Local Government, Town and Country Planning YB Jagdeep Singh Deo and State Exco for Tourism and Creative Economy YB Yeoh Soon Hin.

Also present was Penang Island City Council Mayor Dato A. Rajendran along with state assemblymen, Joseph Ng, Daniel Gooi and Teh Lai Heng.

In his address, Chow congratulated the developer Focal Product Sdn Bhd for working towards delivering affordable homes for the people of Penang.

“This area has a concentration of some 100,000 people and this project will serve well for the residents here. We will also work to hasten the various processes and approval to finalize affordable homes in Penang.

“This project is expected to be completed by 2026 and we are happy to note that we are on track to meet our target of delivering affordable homes to the people of Penang,” said Chow.

Meanwhile, Jagdeep added that the latest figures for affordable homes have reached 150,955 homes or 68.6% of the set target in line with Penang Vision 2030.

“This project will offer some 646 units on a 4 acre site. We congratulate Focal Products Sdn Bhd for their commitment and undertaking of this project,” he said adding that there will also be 153 units priced at rm150,000 and 493 units priced at RM300,000.

“This initiative is in line with our AH from Rent to Own, Low Cost and Low Medium Cost,” he added.

The Mandarin Residensi development consists of two 39-storey residential blocks with 11 levels of car parking podium.
