MAH cheque presentation ceremony

The Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) successfully organized the inaugural MAH Football Tournament 2023 (MFT 2023) at the Shah Alam National Sports Complex-Panasonic in early October last month.

The sporting event was dedicated to uniting and networking hotel members from all MAH chapters with the goal of fostering closer camaraderie within the hospitality industry.

The highlight of the Tournament was the MAH Charity Match; an inspiring and heartwarming showcase that concluded the event with a bang.

The Charity Match saw a team of ex Malaysian International players faced off against a team of veteran hoteliers from MAH for an exhibition match.

These ex-footballers, despite their immense contribution to the nation’s football legacy, often receive inadequate recognition and support.

MAH, in the spirit of altruism, organized the MAH Charity Match where a portion of the collection will be dedicated to supporting these legends and hopefully will raise more awareness of their plight.

Concerning the collection, MAH is proud to announce an impressive total of RM42,000 have been raised for this cause. In a ceremony held at Avante Hotel yesterday.

CS Lim, the organizing chairman of MFT 2023, presented a symbolic cheque amounting to RM42, 000 to the Ex International Players representative, Datuk Wira Soh Chin Ann.

“This is the first time an event like this is being done as far as I know.” shared Datuk Wira Soh Chin Ann adding that to him, as far as football is concerned, they are always looking forward to playing with as many people from diverse backgrounds as possible.

“It was a profoundly humbling experience to step onto the same field and play against these football legends during the exhibition match.” commented the organizing chairman, CS Lim.

“Sports have always been a big draw for our hospitality industry and as football is the biggest spectator sport in Malaysia, we felt that it’s our duty to give back to those who laid the foundation for its enduring appeal. Thank you to the ex international players for the indelible marks they have left for our nation.” said Lim.

In conclusion, the Malaysian Association of Hotels extends its deepest gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of the MAH Football Tournament 2023 and the subsequent MAH Charity Match.

This event would not have been possible without the unwavering support from our partners, the dedication of our participants, and the enthusiasm of our supporters.

Also present at the presentation ceremony was MAH president Ms Christina Toh, vice president, Dato Khoo Boo Lim, Dato Megat Shahrul, Ms Maggie Ong, Ms Shirley Lai, Datin Jasmine Heng, Haziz Hassan Ivan Teo, MAH CEO Isaac Raj among others.
