The Malaysian Association of Hotels ( MAH Penang Chapter) held its first meeting of the year at the NEO+ Hotel to plan for the New Year.
In attendance were some 25 general managers representing the various hotels and resorts in the state.
MAH Penang Chapter chairman Raj Kumar (GM Light Hotel) and vice chairman Ben Ho ( GM Lexis Suites Penang) along with Hon Secretary Tony Goh (GM St Giles Wembley Hotel) were on hand to oversee proceedings.
“Our focus was to discuss ways to handle the pandemic with regards to the SOPs and manage our daily business.
“With only domestic markets available for us to tap, we are planning roadshows to promote our hotels. Our first stop will be to Selangor after the Chinese New Year.
“As far as the labour shortage is concerned, we will be engaging colleges and universities to overcome the problem,” said Raj.
He also added that they will also focus on training for all levels of the industry personnel to further improve and serve better the guests.
Also present was Kevin Cheah (GM Iconic Hotel), Kash Kumaran (GM Sunway Georgetown and Seberang Jaya) , Gulab Rai (GM Neo+ Hotel), Pierre Boudville (GM Rainbow Paradise Beach Hotel), Dennis Lee (Royale Chulan Penang) Dennis Cheng (Vouk Hotel Management) James Chang (GM Grand Orient Resort), John Kim (Mei Hotel), Tan Yew Jin (Berjaya Penang), Jimmy Chan (Hompton Penang) Tan Hock Khiam (Aroma Hotel Butterworth) Dennis (Royale Chulan Penang), Punitha Mary ( Travelodge Macalister Road) among others.
Later, MAH Penang members adjourned to the hotel’s cafĂ© to perform the Yee Sang tossing ceremony to usher in the Year of the Tiger and fellowship.
