The Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) Kedah/Perlis Chapter held a dialogue session with representatives from the District Office, Langkawi Development Authority (LADA) and the local Police recently.

The gathering was held at the Dayang Bay Resort Langkawi. The gathering was also in conjunction with their annual general meeting.

Representing the District Office as Zulkifli Abdullah, who is the chief assistant district officer (development), LADA was represented by Muzaffar Zoher who is the special officer to the chief executive officer and Supt Samsulmuddin Sulaiman, the deputy police chief in Langkawi.

Meanwhile, representing MAH Kedah/Perlis was their chairman Eugene Dass, vice chairman, Effendi Ramley, Hon Secretary Johan  along with their committee and their members.

Representing MAH national was Dato Khoo Boo Lim (Vice president) and Issac Raj, chief executive officer.

Among the highlights of the session was the water issue currently being faced by the various hotels and resorts by Zulkifli. Then, they were also briefed on their operational matters and the serving of liquor .

Muzaffar shared the various initiatives undertaken by LADA to promote Langkawi locally and on the international stage.

These include charter flights, direct flights, cruise ships, MICE events, group incentives, media engagement among others.

In ending the session, Supt Samsulmuddin shared that the crime levels in Langkawi are under control and managed. He also thanked the various hotels and resorts for their cooperation in maintaining peace and harmony.
