Loong Air is the latest airline to connect Penang and China.
They will now connect the historical city of Xian to Penang twice-weekly wef Monday, Dec 30, 2024.
The Chinese airline is based in Hangzhou, Xiaoshan International Airport in Hangzhou, Zhejiang.
The company started domestic services in 2012 with just one Boeing 737-300F and in 2013 signed a MOU to purchase 20 Airbus A320.
As of July 2024, Loong Air fleet consists of 73 aircraft.
With Loong Air coming into the fray, it will be the ninth Chinese Airline to fly directly to Penang.
Some of the other Chinese airlines flying here are China Southern Airlines, Juneyao Airlines, Cathay Pacific, China Airlines, Xiamen Airlines to name a few.
Meanwhile, Xian is the oldest surviving capital of ancient China, Xi’an is home to thousands of years of Chinese heritage and history.
The direct flight initiative is the fruit of labour of Penang Global Tourism (PGT) and team.
