Layang Layang Flying Academy (LLFA), a pioneer in aviation excellence, is set to dazzle audiences with an exhilarating aerobatic air display at the prestigious Karnival Udara Antarabangsa Melaka 2023 (KUAM ’23).

The event is scheduled to take place at Malacca International Airport from September 29th to October 1st, 2023.

LLFA’s commitment to enhancing Malaysia’s air transport safety and promoting aerosports, under the visionary leadership of founder Johan Poong, led to the establishment of the GameBird Aerobatic Team Malaysia.

Spearheaded by Captain John Sham, this pioneering initiative aims to elevate flight training standards and public aircraft operations in Malaysia while fostering the nation’s interest in aerosports. This effort will allow skill enhancement for pilots in the form of Advanced Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (A-UPRT) and Aerobatic Training.

As a leading institution in aviation training, LLFA has always been at the forefront of promoting aviation excellence in Malaysia with the unwavering and invaluable support from the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) under the purview of Dato’ Capt Norazman from the very inception of the GameBird project, CAAM has consistently pushed the boundaries of aviation excellence without compromising safety.

The dedication to raising the bar in aviation training was recently demonstrated when the GameBird Aerobatic Team Malaysia, operating under the LLFA banner, made its debut aerobatic air display at the prestigious Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition 2023 (LIMA ‘23) and later at the Selangor Aviation Show 2023 (SAS ‘23), being the first aerobatic airdisplay at SAS. Representing the Ministry of Transport and the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia, LLFA will showcase their unwavering commitment to advancing the field of aviation with a spectacular Aerobatic Air Display at KUAM ’23, building on this momentum.

The Solo Aerobatic Air Display promises to be a breathtaking spectacle, featuring the GameBird Aerobatic Team Malaysia, Display Pilot, Captain John Sham. Known for his precise and daring aerobatic maneuvers, he will take his art to the skies above Melaka. Captain John skillfully designs specialized maneuvers for each airshow, approaching it much like an architect crafting a masterpiece.

LLFA has become Malaysia’s first flying academy to achieve several remarkable milestones, setting new standards in aviation excellence. These milestones include LLFA’s distinction as the First Advanced Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (A-UPRT) and Aerobatic Training Academy in Malaysia, marking a significant leap forward in aviation training in the region.

Additionally, the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia proudly registers the GB1 GameBird aircraft as the First Aerobatic Aircraft Registered in Malaysia, cementing its commitment to advancing aerobatic capabilities. Furthermore, Captain John Sham is recognised as the First Advanced UPRT and Aerobatic Pilot and Instructor in Malaysia, a testament to his exceptional skills and leadership in the field of aviation.

LLFA’s participation in KUAM ’23 underscores its dedication to fostering the youth of our nation to pursue their dreams in the field of aviation and sports. Inspiring young Malaysians to aspire to become aerobatic pilots, marking the initial stride towards enabling Malaysians to compete in international aerobatic competitions in the future.

Captain Shahdon Poong, the Group General Manager of Layang Layang Group, expressed his excitement, stating, “We are thrilled to be a part of KUAM ’23 and share the excitement of aviation with the public. Our Aerobatic Air Display will not only be a source of inspiration but also a testament to the dedication and skill of our team.”

This event promises to be a highlight of KUAM ’23, attracting aviation enthusiasts, families, and the general public. LLFA extends a warm invitation to all attendees to witness the magic of aviation firsthand and experience the thrill of the skies.
