Lions Club Seberang Jaya food distribution programme during Wesak Day

The Lions Club of Seberang Jaya, Penang hosted a Wesak Day corporate social responsibility (CSR) to feed the needy community and also temple goers.

Members and volunteers cooked and packed 1,000 packets of vegetarian food to be distributed to anyone needing a hearty meal. 

People from all walks of life turned up to collect their food at the Chaiya Manglaram Thai Buddhist Temple in Pulau Tikus.

According to the organising chairman programme, Nicky Sivananthan, the distribution went smoothly and members of the public expressed gratitude.

“We have been carrying out this community service for the past seven years. The response has been overwhelming as people can again congregate in person after the Covid-19 pandemic,” he said.

Also present was club president Major (H) Segaran Muniandy and other members.

The vegetarian food was cooked by the Hare Krishna team led by Chef Larry.

Nicky also thanked members, well-wishers, supporters, donors, sponsors for making the event a grand success.
