Residents in Lebuh Pantai Permai rejoiced at the new roofing launch ceremony for their food court earlier this morning.
Traders at the food court have been requesting for the roofing to shield them from the sun and rain.
They can now enjoy their meals in comfort in a bright and cosy environment.
Present to officiate the ceremony was State Exco for Infrastructure and Transport, YB Zairil Khir Johari and Penang Mayor Dato A Rajendran.
Councillors and officers from the various departments at the council were also present.
In his address Zairil thanked the Penang Island City Council for approving and implementing the project.
“The new roofing will surely benefit the food operators and residents here.
“This project is for the people and community here. I had earlier sent in the request for this project to the council.
“I am happy that it has been fulfilled and completed in seven months”, said Zairil adding that it has turned out better than their expectations.
Earlier, Rajendran shared that a total of RM619,000 budget had been allocated for this project.
“With its completion, it offers a much brighter lighting and shade.
“I also wish to thank the various departments at the Penang Island City Council involved in making this project a success.
The innovative design also adds to the overall structure and aesthetics of the project.
