A total of 15 teams representing the various hotels and resorts in Langkawi are taking part in the inter-hotel football tournament which kicked off recently (Aug 5, 2025).
Among the participating teams are the Pelangi Beach Resort Langkawi, Parkroyal Langkawi Resort, The Westin Langkawi, The Ritz-Carlton, Langkawi, Mercure Langkawi Pantai Cenang, Bella Vista, Ombak Villa, Tanjung Rhu Resort, Four Seasons Resort, Wings By Croske Resort Langkawi, St Regis Resort, Holiday Villa among others.
For the records, the defending champions of the tournament are the Datai Resort Langkawi.
An official launching ceremony was held at the LADA Stadium led by Malaysian Association of Hotel (MAH) Kedah/Perlis chapter chairman Eugene Dass and his committee members.
Also present was MAH Kedah/Perlis chapter vice chairman Hafiz Hashim, organising chairman Mazlan Ariffin who is also the Human Resources director at Datai Langkawi, Mahaludin Bakar who is the tournament manager, Melvin Quah, Hon Secretary, Abdul Malik Mohamed Hussain from Nadias Hotel, committee members among others.
In his address, Dass shared that Kedah were the champions for the first time ever at the interstate MAH Football Tournament last year.
“The organising committee has gone to great lengths to organise this tournament, kudos to them.
“We are also happy to note the keen interest of participating teams from the various hotels for the tournament.
“The tournament also serves to forge friendship and camaraderie among the participants, players and officials,” he added.
The tournament will be held in stages till September 19, 2025. Meanwhile, the opening match saw the Westin Resort team overcome The Datai Resort by a 3-1 margin.
Lending support at the launch ceremony were several hotel managers and general managers at the pitch.
