The “Jom Makan Thai Food” fest will be held at the MYDIN Tunjong, Kota Bharu from today (May 4th) till Sunday May 7, 2023.

The event is the largest Jom Makan Thai food festival in Kelantan.

The event is jointly organized by the Royal Thai Consulate–General in Kota Bharu, the Department of International Trade Promotion, the Ministry of Commerce of Thailand (DITP Malaysia), and MYDIN, this exciting four-day festival will showcase the best of Thailand offering delicious and authentic Halal Thai food and beverages, Thai handicrafts and accessories, and magnificent Thai cultural performances.

More than 240 selections of newly launched Halal Thai food and beverages are specially brought in for this event. 

One of the goals of the festival is to strengthen our customer base of Thai food and beverages, handicrafts, and accessories on the East Coast of Malaysia.

This event will be inaugurated by YB. Mejar (B) Dato’ Haji Md. Anizam Abdul Rahman, Chairman of the Kelantan State Community Unity, Culture, Heritage and Tourism Committee. 

Mrs. Marisa Indramangala, Acting Consul – General of Thailand to Kota Bahru,

expressed her sincere appreciation to YAB Ustaz Dato’ Haji Ahmad Yakob, Chief Minister of Kelantan, and YB. Mejar (B) Dato’ Haji Md. Anizam Abdul Rahman, Chairman of the Community Unity, Culture, Heritage and Tourism Committee, for supporting the Royal Thai Consulate-General in organizing this special event.

She is confident that the festival would not only bring flavours in Thai cuisine closer to people in Kelantan to taste, but also serve as a cultural bridge further bonding Thai and Malaysian peoples together.

According to the Director of DITP Malaysia, Worawan Wanwil, “This event is the largest “Jom Makan Thai Food ” festival in Kota Bharu. I am very happy to see the overwhelming acceptance of Thai Food, especially Halal Thai food, in Malaysia. More varieties will be imported from time to time, and DITP will provide all the support needed by Malaysian distributors. This collaboration between DITP and MYDIN, one of Malaysia’s largest retail chains, is indeed an honour.”
