In keeping with their aim of providing a “roof over their heads” for anyone who needs a home in Penang, the Penang state government has achieved the milestone of providing 131,391 units of affordable homes.
In highlighting the feat, State Exco for Housing, Local Government, Town and Country Planning, Jagdeep Singh Deo said that they range from RM42,000 to RM300,000 in Penang.
“We also offer the Rent-to-Own (RTO) units for those who cannot get their loans from banks.
“We will also ensure our Urban Regeneration programmes will be implemented with our first project slated to commence in the next two months at Bayan Baru which will see a further 1,105 units of Affordable Housing ranging from RM72,500 to RM300,000 being made available for Penangites.
“It is hoped the Federal Government will assist by fine tuning the necessary laws as we have requested for several years now and also to ensure the delivery of Federally funded Affordable Housing in Penang,” added Jagdeep.
In the meantime, in conjunction with the Chinese New Year, food baskets were given out for folks in the Taman Penang Free School area.
Making his presence was the Member of Parliament for Jelutong RSN Rayer. Members of the public were also presented with oranges and hampers.
