The Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) will soon have its very own travel channel to promote and highlight attractions, events, food and other tourism related videos.

This is following the signing of the memorandum of under understanding (MOU) between MAH and Select TV at the Prestige Hotel Penang yesterday.(Dec 7)

Representing MAH was its president Kamaruddin Baharin while Select TV was represented by its chief executive officer, GS Goh.

“MAH and Select TV will be producing its very own Visit Malaysia 2020 initiatives through the exclusive hotel TV channel and will be provided free of charge to our over thousand hotel members,” said Kamaruddin.

The channel will be known as Discover Malaysia.

Two other MOUs were also signed with the International College of Music (ICOM) and Persatuan Pegawai-Pegawai Pengkuatkuasa Pihak Berkuasa Tempatan (PESAMA).

The MOU with ICOM will help bridging expertise, education and network from the music, audio, video and lighting industry to the hotel industry.

“Meanwhile the MOU with PESAMA recognises the importance of enforcement and its officers working tirelessly to uphold local laws and regulations.

“We share the same objectives of a fair and level tourism industry playing fields and both are committed to support each other ‘s efforts and activities,” said MAH chief executive officer, Yap Lip Seng.

The cocktail reception also brought together members for a night of fellowship and camaraderie.

Also present were hotel general managers from Penang and chapter chairman for Penang, Khoo Boo Lim, Kedah / Perlis chairman, Eugene Dass, Maimun Mohd Hussain, chapter chairperson from Kelantan and chapter chairman from Kuala Lumpur, BE Lim among others.

Lending support was Jonathan Freddy Bagang, Penang director for the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC).
