Residents at Halaman Damai in Sungai Pinang were elated with news of upgrading their water tanks and upgrading of roads in the area.
Meeting the was State Exco for Housing, Local Government, Town and Country Planning YB Jagdeep Singh Deo along with state assemblyman, Lim Siew Khim.
The upgrading work will cost a total of RM698,019 whereby the state government will bear 80% whilst the residents will bear 20%.
Meanwhile, Jagdeep expressed confidence that with the help of the federal government, the state’s affordable housing agenda is full steam ahead.
“We have now reached 140,395 units of various types ranging from rent to own, low cost, low medium cost and various affordable housing.
“The maintenance of such Public Housing schemes will also continue to be prioritised. We have completed 34,663 projects at a cost of RM 323.3 million, and we are confident our request of RM87.75 million from the new Federal Government will be given due consideration.* he said.
He also added that during his recent visit to Putrajaya and meeting the new Minister YB Nga Kor Ming, they have received RM24 million for our Local Government facilities such as markets and in principle RM16 million has been agreed for maintenance of such public housing.
“I will continue to engage the federal government. Our highest gratitude and thanks to them, whilst we continue with delivery of such public affordable housing and their maintenance in Penang.
