Around this time next year, folks in Penang can expect to enjoy the facilities of the first phase of the Gurney Wharf project.
Among the facilities will include hawker centres / cafes for food and drinks, recreational areas, public park, promenade, playing areas for the children and more. What more, there will also be water taxi facilities.
Not forgetting, there will also be facilities for the handicapped.
“Of the 131 acres reclaimed, 50 acres will be for the people of Penang. I am here today to ensure that this project is completed on time.
“We want the people of Penang to enjoy the facilities at Gurney Wharf.” said Penang State Exco for Housing, Local Government, and Town and Country Planning, Jagdeep Singh Deo.
He said that this is in line with the state’s vision of cleaner and greener aspirations.
He also added that open tenders will be called by June this year.
“We will have around 800 car parks and also bays for buses as we anticipate that this location will become a tourist attraction in the future.
“From our survey done, 96 % of the people support this project,” said Jagdeep during his tour of the location with officials from Tanjong Pinang Development, state officials and the local media members earlier today.
