Penang’s popular mall, Gurney Plaza has created a quaint little kampung setting right in the middle of their atrium area to usher in the Hari Raya Aidilfitri season this year.
Shoppers will be emerged in an atmosphere of tradition, culture and heritage.
The mall’s management team have also come up with a “Batik Aidilfitri” theme to showcase Malaysian textile heritage with all the elements which make Hari Raya special.
Visitors to the mall can enjoy various designs of batik hung from various structures the adorn the atrium area. It will also be a perfect opportunity for photos and selfies for the whole family.
Other highlights include the bamboo arch at the entrance, an intricately designed Malaysian moon kite, beca, sampan, three-wheeled vehicle and more.
On hand at the launching ceremony was Ms Selina Ng, CapitaLand Head, Retail Malaysia, state assemblyman for Pulau Tikus, Chris Lee, Peter Chan Deputy General Manager Mall Management, Tourism Malaysia Northern Region Director Shahrul Aman along with his deputy Siti Hajar, media members and guests.
The setting even features a chicken coop with a family of a mother hen, rooster and little chicks on display.
Self-taught painter Mandy Maung also presented her segment of “Orikata Tales” batik features.
Shoppers can also enjoy fun-filled shows like batik demonstration, and workshop by Penang Batik Factory, gamelan performance, Zapin dance and Kuda Kepang.
Meanwhile, the mall’s “Raya Shop and Win Contest” offers a chance to win prizes like a Samsung Galaxy S22, Coffee Machine, or RM100 STAR Voucher while redemption for exclusive Raya packets, The Body Shop Olive Shower Gel, Laura Mercier Beauty Set among others are available.
