Penang State Exco for  Local Government, Housing, Town and Country Planning, Jagdeep Singh Deo announced the first affordable housing to be developed by the Penang Housing Board.

The project will consist of some 1,267 units (253 units of Low Medium Cost and 1,014 units of Affordable Housing) at Bukit Gedung, Bayan Baru which will be completed by 2025.

“We will ensure delivery of affordable housing for Penangites despite this pandemic. 

“To-date 119,116 units of such units of various affordable housing ranging from RM42,000- to RM300,000 have been provided whereby 38,149 have been built, 18,519 are being built and 62,448 have been approved to be built,” said Jagdeep in a press conference in Komtar today.

In the meantime, he also announced that theThe Penang Home Ownership Campaign (HOC) will be extended for another year, until June 2022, with the main objective of assisting affordable home buyers, with the discount of ten percent on such housing, continuing. 

“Guidelines have also been revised to ensure more low medium cost housing priced at RM72,500 to be built, which is part and parcel of the war against Covid-19 whereby, apart from the priority placed on public and health security, we also want to assist all to rise economically,” he said.
