The return of the Georgetown Heritage Celebrations 2022 saw overwhelming response from locals and tourists.
Those who turned up were treated to some traditional and cultural shows at the Lebuh Acheh Basketball court area.
According to Georgetown World Heritage Incorporated Dr Ang Ming Chee general manager, they expect some 2,500 guests over the period of the shows.
“We had to plan all of these shows at the very last minute as we had little notice for the green light from the federal government to go ahead with outdoor shows.
“However, we are glad that we managed to gather a good mix of shows to present to the audience. We are grateful to the various groups which have come to perform and make the festival a success.
“About 80% of the show is made up of local presentations and we also wanted the kids to get acquainted with local culture and traditions,” added Dr Ang on the sidelines of the event.
She also added that there will be another round of shows on July 7, 2022.
Among the shows consist of Boria presentation, Odissi dance from the Temple of Fine Arts, Chinese Orchestra, Sitar recital, Lion dance, Gamelan ensemble, Chinese drums, Dikir Barat and puppet shows.
It will also give the opportunity for parents to bring the kids out for a memorable night.
So, if you are around Georgetown area, make sure to check out the shows.
