The popular George Town Festival (GTF) 2023 is back in its physical format.
The much awaited festival will be held from July 15 to 30, 2023 over 20 locations.
They will feature an exciting line-up of premiering and debuting works, indigenous-ethnic-cultural performances, digital art installations, books and game launches, community-based events and a series of masterclasses, workshops, and forums.
State Exco for Tourism and Creative Economy YB Yeoh Soon Hin made the announcement of GTF 2023 in Komtar yesterday.
“Due to the Covid-19 pandemic the show was only online but now it is back in the physical format. Representatives from the Asia-Pacific Region, Taiwan and Australia (Adelaide) will be taking part,” said Yeoh.
Georgetown and Adelaide are also celebrating their 50th anniversary of their sister city status.
Also present was Jack Wong, the managing director of TLM Event Sdn Bhd and his team along with Muhammad Hijas Sahari from George Town World Heritage Incorporated.
There will also be participation from Sabah and Sarawak. Some 70% of the shows will offer free entrance. Ticket prices range from RM30 to RM150.
The opening ceremony will be held at the Majestic Theatre while the closing ceremony will be held at Lebuh Pantai with a grand light show.
Local and foreign visitors are expected to show support to the glamorous event.
