This Chinese New Year, the Sunway Carnival Mall on mainland Penang invites shoppers to welcome the Year of the Horse with joy, optimism and boundless energy at Galloping Into Prosperity — a vibrant celebration of reunion, progress and auspicious beginnings.
Present at a grand launch ceremony was State Exco for Social Development, Welfare and Non Muslim Affairs YB Lim Siew Khim along with Sunway Carnival Mall’s senior general manager Chai Wen Yew and other guests.
As the thunderous roar of the traditional Chinese drums and lion dance performance roared across the hallways of the mall, simmered down, VIP guests performed the drumming ceremony to mark the start of festivities.

Majestic galloping horse motifs take centre stage, symbolising strength, vitality and forward momentum — encouraging every shopper to stride confidently into the new year with hope and excitement.
A rich tapestry of traditional architectural elements, glowing lanterns and intricate floral patterns unfolds in auspicious hues of red and gold, evoking abundance, celebration and good fortune. Blooming cherry blossom trees add a soft, graceful charm, symbolising renewal and new beginnings. At the heart of the display, a carousel-style merry-go-round introduces a joyful sense of movement and nostalgia, reflecting the belief that good fortune flows endlessly, returning with blessings, luck and happiness for all. This enchanting setting invites families and children to pause, play and capture meaningful memories filled with hope and delight.
Adding to the festive cheer, shoppers can explore the Chinese New Year Festive Market at the South Atrium from 23 January to 16 February 2026. Discover beautifully curated hampers and delectable festive treats, thoughtfully prepared to share blessings, prosperity and heartfelt wishes with loved ones.
Throughout the celebration, visitors can enjoy a lively lineup of cultural performances and activities, including orchestral showcases, traditional and war drum performances, captivating lion dances, kids’ tea workshops and demonstrations, calligraphy demonstrations, and delightful walkabouts by the God of Prosperity — bringing joy, excitement and festive blessings to every corner of the mall.
