Embracing the true spirit of the season, G Hotel Penang today ignited the magic of Christmas for 62 children and community members from Pertubuhan Rumah Kebajikan Seri Cahaya Pulau Pinang, Crystal Family Home (CFH) Penang, and the Children Protection Society (CPS). In a heartwarming Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, G Hotel booked an entire cinema hall to bring the children and volunteers together for a special private screening of the animated hit, Zootopia 2.
Held in collaboration with Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) and YMCA Penang, the event saw a combined force of 18 dedicated volunteers from the G Hotel “G Care” team, YMCA, and GSC united by a single goal: to bring smiles to the faces of the community’s underprivileged youth.
The afternoon began with excitement as the children arrived at Golden Screen Cinemas. To complete the cinematic experience, every child was treated to a combo of fresh popcorn and drinks, filling the foyer with the scent of caramel and the sound of laughter.
This initiative was made possible through the generous support of GSC, who collaborated closely with G Hotel to facilitate this exclusive full-hall booking, ensuring the children enjoyed a comfortable, safe, and memorable movie experience.
Leading the initiative on behalf of G Hotel were Thomas Chng, Director of Human Resources and Karen Sim, Marketing Communications Manager, alongside Sabrina Chee, Assistant General Secretary from YMCA Penang, who joined the volunteers in hosting the children.
Reflecting on the initiative, Michael Hanratty, General Manager of G Hotel Penang, shared – “Christmas is not merely a season of celebration, but a time for reflection and giving back to the community that sustains us. Through our ‘G Care’ programme, we strive to make a tangible difference. We are grateful to our partners, GSC and YMCA Penang, for joining hands with us to create this magical afternoon.”
Following the screening of Zootopia 2, the festive atmosphere continued as the G Care team and volunteers distributed specially prepared Christmas gifts and festive treats to the children.
The event concluded with a group photography session, capturing the memories of a day filled with fun, film, and festive cheer.
