It will be a happy home-coming for this experienced hotelier, Ms Pauline Chua when she takes up her new post as the Group General Manager (GGM) of Iconic Marjorie Group, effective today April 22, 2026.
Although hailing from Penang, she had never worked in Penang throughout her long and colourful career.
In her new role she will oversee three properties in the Iconic Group: namely the Iconic Marjorie Hotel, Penang, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel by Marriott; Iconic Hotel Penang in Bukit Mertajam, Penang and the Iconic Regency Service Residences.
With over three decades of experience in the international hospitality industry, Chua brings a wealth of operational expertise, strategic leadership, and global perspective to her new role.
She will oversee the overall direction, performance, and brand growth of Iconic Group of hotels, guiding the group into its next phase of expansion and excellence. Chua, is widely respected for her strong leadership credentials and her ability to drive business results while cultivating high-performing teams.
Since assuming leadership at Amari Johor Bahru, the flagship ONYX Hospitality Group property in southern Malaysia, she has successfully strengthened the hotel’s market positioning, elevated service standards, and enhanced its reputation among business and leisure travelers alike.
Under her stewardship, the hotel has received multiple industry accolades, reflecting its commitment to quality, innovation, and guest satisfaction. Her career spans senior leadership roles across Asia and the Pacific, including appointments in Bangkok, Thailand, China, Fiji and Papua New Guinea.
Notably, she has served as General Manager of Shama Sukhumvit Bangkok and held oversight responsibilities for multiple properties within ONYX Hospitality Group’s portfolio.
This diverse international exposure has equipped her with deep insights into multicultural operations, brand development, and sustainable growth strategies.
She is known for her people-centric leadership style, emphasizing collaboration, empowerment and cultural integration.
She firmly believes that organizational success is built on strong teams, shared values and a clear vision, principles she continues to champion throughout her career.
Her upcoming transition to Group General Manager of Iconic Group marks a significant milestone, underscoring the group’s confidence in her leadership and strategic capabilities.
