It is said by a poet, Geoffrey Chaucer that “all good things must come to an end”.
In keeping with this saying and after serving thousands guests from all walks of life for more than 15 years, the G Hotel Gurney’s lobby lounge will cease to exist.
The hotel is going through its major renovation which will be completed by late Q3 this year.
This iconic lobby lounge can easily be said to be the most unique Georgetown had ever had.
Its vast space encompasses the reception area, lounge seating and into the dining area of the Taste Cafe.
In the heydays, one could enjoy live bands which will take you down memory lane or even up tempo beats. No thanks to the pandemic.
For this writer, it was a place to work from, meet people, interview people, make new friends and not forgetting, to chill out too. Personally, I too will miss this wonderful lobby lounge.
As a farewell gesture to this venue, “the last hurrah” drink session was held with the company of several regular guests.
Also in the mix was the hotel’s general manager, Michael Hanratty, Director of sales and marketing, Christina Tan, director of security Arul Dass, F&B director Jordon Lim, F&B manager Danson along with several sales team members.
Lending support were sales managers, Kanage Siva, Carolyn Goh and WenQian Chuah all from the sales team.
We are all now content to look forward to the “new lounge” which is to be located on the third floor of the building somewhere in late Sept or early Oct this year.
Till then, we will have to be content with the options of the ever-popular Tree Bar or the Gravity at G Kelawai Hotel.
