A series of exhibitions entitled “Dari Gabenor ke TYT ” will be held from July 2022 till May 2023 in conjunction with the 73rd birthday celebration of the Governor of Penang.
The exhibition is organised by the Penang State Museum and Art Gallery.
Present to announce the event was State Exco for Tourism and Creative Economy, YB Yeoh Soon Hin and Penang State Museum Board Director, Haryany Mohamed at the Olive Tree Hotel yesterday.
It is noteworthy that only four states in Malaysia have governors, namely Malacca, Sabah, Sarawak and of course Penang.
The exhibitions are intended to raise awareness on the role of governors and their various functions in the state and the country. They will also serve to educate members of the public.
This inaugural exhibition will start off from the Dewan Sri Pinang and follow up at the Penang State Library branches in Seberang Jaya, Bertam, Jawi and Balik Pulau.
“The exhibitions will be held at all five districts in the state. Through these exhibitions, it is hoped that members of the public and the new generation will be able to learn and understand the role and function of the governor.
“Various items for the past seven governors will also be on display,” said Yeoh in the press conference.
Yeoh also added that they may also take the exhibition to other states in the country or at least to the states with governors.
Meanwhile, Haryany added that it will take some time to collect various artifacts from the past governors or their family. However, they will also plan for the safety and security of the artifacts while on display.
Among the other activities involved are the portrait drawing competition of his excellency, Seri Mriara official residence puzzle, casual hat with his Excellency acquaintances, online quiz, video screening and live streaming.
Among the various departments involved in preparing for the exhibition are The office of the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Pulau Pinang, Penang State Library, National Archives of Malaysia, Penang Branch, Penang State Legal Advisor Office, District & Land offices, Protocol Division and Penang State Legislative Assembly.
