The Eighth Governor of Penang, Dato Seri Utama Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak took his oath of office at the Dewan Sri Pinang witnessed by a host of VIPs and dignitaries.

Among those present at the glittering ceremony was Penang Chief Minister, Chow Kon Yeow, Youth and Sports Minister, Dato Sri Reezal Merican Naina Merican, Deputy CM 1 Dato Ahmad Zakiyuddin Abdul Rahman, Deputy CM 2 Prof Dr P. Ramasamy, Penang High Court Judge Dato Sri Tun Abdul Majid Tun Hamzah among others.

The in-coming Governor was earlier given the ceremonial guard-of-honour by the 106-strong Malay regiment accompanied by the army band.

In his welcoming address, Chow congratulated Dato Sri Fuzi on his appointment and also shared that the last time such a ceremony was held was 20 years ago.

“We would also like to thank the seventh Governor of Penang Tun Dato Seri Utama Abdul Rahman Abbas for his service and contribution to the state of Penang.

“We believe with his knowledge and exposure serving in the diplomatic core, our new Governor will serve well for the state,” said Chow.

He later highlighted matters regarding Penang 2030, investment, fight against covid-19 pandemic initiatives and other state matters.
