Dialight Penang held its official opening ceremony graced by YB Jagdeep Singh Deo, Deputy Chief Minister 11 of Penang at the Prai Industrial Area earlier this morning.
Also present was Steve Blair, Group Chief Executive Officer Dialight, Dr IIamaran Elangkathir, Director of Dialight, Malcom Lee, MD/VP of Operations Asia Pacific Dialight Penang, Rizwan Ahmad, Chief Executive Officer, Dialight among a host of guests.
In his opening address Jagdeep hailed the company’s investment in Penang and added that Penang is the choice of investors in this part of the region.
“Although being a small state, we contribute about 8 percent of the world’s back end semiconductor output. We have the right people and the hard working attitude of our workforce to make Penang an outstanding investment centre.

“In 2025, Penang recorded RM7.3 Billion in approved projects. In Q1 of 2025 alone, Penang attracted RM6.7 Billion in investments – 79 percent of which were in the Electrical & Electronics sector,” he shared.
Earlier, Blair said that Dialight is listed on the London Stock Exchange and operates globally with offices and manufacturing facilities around the world.
“These include those in London, UK, Farmingdale and Roxboro in the USA, Tijuana and Ensenada in Mexico and here in Penang.
“Dialight has been manufacturing in Penang since 2012 and we aim to regularly upgrade our facilities to meet the evolving business needs. We are also very proud of our Dialight Foundation which supports our efforts to give back to the local community in which we work,” he added.
Meanwhile, Dr IImaran shared that the new facility measures 57,000 sq ft and hosts modern manufacturing facilities. He also thanked local and federal government agencies for their assistance and cooperation in making the facility to be completed within the timeframe.
The VIP guests took part in the launch gambit and performed the ribbon cutting ceremony and toured the new facility.
