The Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) is confident hat they will achieve their target of RM45 million sales at the fair which ends later today at World Trade Centre (WTC) in Kuala Lumpur.
Expressing confidence was MATTA president Datuk Tan Kok Liang during the official launch of the fair last Friday.
On hand to launch the 51 edition of the MATTA Fair was Langkawi Development Authority (LADA) chief executive officer Nasaruddin Abdul Muttalib in the presence of state MATTA chairmen and guests.
Datuk Tan also announced that Langkawi is the favourite destination in Malaysia among travellers.
“Now, I am pleased to announce that this MATTA Fair – Langkawi is Malaysia’s favourite destination. Thank you, Tuan Nasaruddin, for your support of the MATTA Fair. The industry recognizes LADA as the main agency for the development of Langkawi as a world-class tourist destination, and we are confident that this cooperation will endure for many years to come,” added Tan.
He also shared that MATTA Fair provides visitors with an excellent opportunity to find the most affordable travel deals to the vacation destinations of their choice, no matter where in the world they may be located, with the participation of more than 270 organisations which includes 22 National Tourism Organisations (NTO) and State Tourism Offices (STO) and more than 248 exhibitors comprising travel agents, tour operators, airlines, hotel, resorts, theme parks and travel-related businesses.
Being endorsed by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC), members (exhibitors) have legitimate licenses issued by MOTAC, therefore, visitors will have confidence that they are purchasing from legitimate tour operators and travel agents, especially so for Umrah packages.
With some 536 booths in three halls, the fair is surely the largest in the country.
Among the state tourism agencies taking part are from Perlis, Kedah, Langkawi, Perak, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Melaka, Pahang, Terengganu, Sarawak and Sabah. In addition to these state tourism offices, our anchor “tenant” is Tourism Malaysia.
The tourism departments of Turkey, India, Philippines, Taiwan, Korea and Japan (Taipei, Tohoku & Tokyo prefectures) are present at the fair. Their confidence in our MATTA FAIR is also an indication that tourism is on the rise throughout the entire region, and they are ready to welcome more Malaysians back to their various areas. Japan is one of the last nations to eliminate the pre-entry COVID-19 test requirement for fully vaccinated passengers with at least one booster dose, effective September 7th.
Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) is the official airline of MATTA Fair KL.
