Dataran, Penang Hill will be used as a temporary hawker site starting January 13, 2025.
Construction will commence from October 7 to December 31, 2024, taking place at Dataran, Penang Hill and the area near Penang Hill Station.
The temporary hawker site aims to provide space for the hawkers of the Cliff Café (Astaka Bukit Bendera) to continue operating during the redevelopment project of the Cliff Café (Astaka Bukit Bendera), which is scheduled to begin in mid-February 2025.
During the construction period of the temporary hawker site, hawkers at Cliff Café (Astaka Bukit Bendera) will operate as usual. All hawkers will only move to the temporary site when it is ready in early January 2025.
While the construction work of the temporary hawker site is underway, Penang Hill Corporation (PHC) seeks the public’s cooperation in adhering to the safety instructions and signs installed at the site.
Penang Hill consistently receives a high number of visitors, with the Cliff Café (Astaka Bukit Bendera) serving as a focal point for visitors to enjoy local food and drinks.
Therefore, PHC will redevelop the Cliff Café (Astaka Bukit Bendera) to expand the dining area capacity, enhance facilities in accordance with international standard and service quality, thereby providing better comfort to visitors.
The redevelopment project is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2026, offering an enhanced experience for visitors.
PHC appreciates everyone’s patience and understanding during the construction of the temporary hawker site and the redevelopment of the Cliff Café (Astaka Bukit Bendera) project next year.
